Small Pill Cutter splits Finasteride into quarters.
Proscar, which is used to treat an enlarged prostate, and Propecia which is used to reduce male pattern baldness, are exactly the same prescription drug – 100% Finasteride. The only difference is that Proscar is a 5 mg tablet and Propecia is a 1 mg tablet. The 5 mg Proscar tablet costs $3.32 while the 1 mg Propecia tablet costs $2.06. Splitting the Proscar tablet into quarters saves $1.23 per tablet or $449 per year. Many users have switched from Propecia to Finasteride since it is now available as a generic drug and the 5 mg Finasteride tablet costs $2.11. Splitting the 5 mg Finasteride tablet into quarters saves $578 per year. Drugs.com shows Finasteride tablets from 8 different manufacturers. They are all slightly different in shape, but in general appear to be small and should fit in the pill beds of the Small Pill Cutter. Following are pictures of the 5 mg Finasteride tablet manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals USA which an individual was kind enough to mail to me for testing. Pictures below show how it works:
Place the 5 mg Finasteride tablet in the large pill bed of Small Pill Cutter.

Lower cutting the arm until it rests on the tablet and make adjustments to center as necessary.

Push down on the cutting arm with your thumb to split the pill in half.

The 5 mg pill is cut in half.
To quarter the pill, place the half pill into the middle bed of the Small Pill Cutter.

Close the cutting arm until it rests on the half pill. Check carefully to make sure that the half pill is centered. If not, make adjustments to insure an accurate cut.

The half pill is quartered.
